Alabama ARPA Swim teams:

Attached are the registration materials needed for the 2008 State meet and other relevant information. The warm-up schedule will be included in the coach’s packet distributed Thursday, July 24^th 2008. We will also post warm up schedules along with other information on the SSA web site. The address is www.swimssa.org. We look forward to having a successful swim meet for all of our swimmers.

All of the rules and expectations are in the on-line manual located at the following web address: http://www.arpaonline.org/refmaterials.html. Teams who have HYTEK'S Meet/Team Manager should submit their entries on a 3-1/2" disk. E-mailed HYTEK entries will be accepted. Entry forms must be completely filled out including the swimmers’ qualifying times. Please provide a printed hard copy of entries for verification purposes. Results will be available on the SSA web-site following the meet.

LOCATION: Scottsboro Rec*Com 701 South Houston Street, Scottsboro Al. 35768. 256-259-0999

PARKING Parking areas will be designated “Parking for Swim Meet”. Each team will receive 2 parking passes for coaches.

Parking fees at the Recreation facility will be as follows:

2 day pass $5.00

1 day pass $3.00

FACILITIES 8 lane, 25 yard pool, 4 foot minimum in depth, non-turbulent lane dividers. The Recreation Center’s air-conditioned gym will be available for all swimmers to rest. Teams are welcome to bring tents to set up outside to provide shade and shelter around the pool area.

TIMING Fully automatic Colorado electronic timing system and 8 lane scoreboard with lane/time/place display. 2 black buttons (pickles) will be used for electronic backup times along with stop-watches. Backup equipment will be on hand and available.

ELIGIBILITY All swimmers must be listed on the official team roster as well as participated in their

respective District Meet..

RULES Current ARPA and United States Swimming rules will govern the meet.

AGE Swimmers’ ages as of June 1, 2008 will determine age for the meet.

EVENTS 80 age group events. Competition will follow an open format. All events will be timed finals. The order of events is attached.

ENTRIES Each swimmer may enter a maximum of three individual and two relay events. Team entry sheets, entry fees and surcharges must be received by 5:00 pm July 15, 2007.

FEES Entry fees are $2.50 per individual event and $6.00 per relay. There is a $1.00 surcharge per athlete. Please make checks payable to: Scottsboro Swim Association. All entry fees

are nonrefundable.

AWARDS Medals will be awarded for first through sixth places in all individual events and ribbons will be awarded for seventh through 8^th place in all individual events. Medals will be awarded for first through third places in all relay events and ribbons will be awarded for fourth through 8^th place in all relay events.

SCORING There is no scoring for this meet.

I, parent or guardian of the child whose name is listed on the same line with my signature below, hereby give approval to his/her participation in Alabama Recreation and Parks Association, Inc. (ARPA) tournament activities as a member of the above named team representing the identified ARPA Affiliate Member. I assume all risks and hazards incidental to such participation including transportation to and from all activities; and do hereby waive, release, absolve and indemnify and agree to hold harmless the Alabama Recreation and Parks Association, Incorporated, Its Directors, Officers, Members and Staff, the local Parks and Recreation Department and/or Board, the local league organization, the tournament organizers, sponsors, supervisors, officials, participants and persons transporting the child to and from activities, for any claim arising out of injury to the child, except to the extent and in the amount covered by the accident and/or liability insurance held by the local league.

I also grant permission to managing and/or coaching personnel or other team representatives or tournament officials to authorize and obtain medical care and treatment from any licensed physician at a hospital or medical office should the child become ill or injured while participating in ARPA tournament activities while away from home, or at other times when neither parent/guardian is available to grant authorization for emergency treatment. It is further understood that any payment and/or insurance for the cost of such medical treatment if required will be the sole responsiblility of the participants parent/guardian.

A certified birth certificate or acceptable proof of age of the above named particpant has been furnished to ARPA tournament officials or is attached.
